Vote for Joseph (Jay) Wallace III, ’04, T Company for Vice President of the Citadel Alumni Association.
Dear Citadel Alumni,
In August, Citadel alumni will elect an alumni member as the incoming vice president of the Alumni Association. As you know, this position will become the President of The Citadel Alumni Association in 2 years. You will choose who you want to represent you in the decision-making process that will determine the future of our alumni association and impact the future of the Military College of South Carolina.
My name is Jay Wallace and I am a candidate for the vice president of the Alumni Association. I have been involved with our alma mater since I was born. My family is a Citadel family with Grads from class of ’51, ’77, ’77 Veteran Student, ’84, ‘10 and ‘16. The values that make us special have been instilled in me since the beginning. Duty and Honor are part of my daily life, as I know they are a part of yours.
I have spent over 20 years of my life serving my community and The Citadel in small and large charitable organizations, working to improve our community and the lives of those in our group and my fellow Citadel graduates (to see my bio, visit www.Jwallace.info/bio). I have come together with other alumni and volunteers to bring great ideas into reality and, through this work, we have won awards for our service, but the important thing is the impact we, as a team, have had on the organizations we’ve run. I have consistently worked to improve these organizations and make them valuable to those that they support. We ask simple questions about what will make a real difference and that is the value that we work to deliver.
We need a Vice President who understands our modern world and our traditions. I am that man. I, with my team, have started companies and organizations from the ground up, been called in to fix others, and continue to bring value to my customers and members. Knowing what they need and then being able to provide it is critical to running and growing a small business. All organizations, including our alumni association, MUST provide something of value to each member.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY to a well-run association. We run multiple companies and non-profit organizations that are at the forefront of technological innovation. Finding new ways to communicate with our members in a way that works for them and is not intrusive – it is critical to bringing value to you! One of the key missions of the Alumni Association is keeping you informed of the changes and improvements on campus, listening to your views, and bringing that voice to the administration! A strong and independent alumni association is critical to a strong Citadel!
The Cadet Alumni of The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, are the heart and soul of our college. It’s us who are working hard every day to create that reputation in the real world and standing out against our peers through our adherence to Duty, Honor and Respect. We live in a new and changing world but our 4 Class System and the pressures it uses are what we need to protect. This valuable system must be protected and, our role, as alumni, is to protect the process and reputation that make our institution what it is. We have all worked hard as cadets and in our professional and personal lives to be seen as deserving of the benefits of wearing that band of gold. It is a high ideal that wasn’t created easily or without hard work. It is our job to make sure the Long Gray Line is protected and nurtured to make it not only stronger but relevant to our society. Forget not, that the point of the process is to produce principled leaders and have them actively participate in our world.
I UNDERSTAND that our traditions are what matter and make us who we are. It’s what our brand is built on. I know and understand technology very well and will use it to PROTECT and advance our past. I will advocate for our core values and our traditions. That is what I stand up for in board meetings and at club meetings. My ability to embrace the past and take that past into the future with us is what sets me apart.
Please vote Jay Wallace, ’04, T Company for Vice President of the Alumni Association!

As officers of the CAA, we have a responsibility to work with and help the administration, the Citadel Foundation, and others to enhance the relationship between the CAA and the school. Finding common ground, building consensus and developing services that benefit all is how value is sustained in institutions.
The staff and leadership within the CAA are talented and skilled professionals with a clear path forward. I have had the pleasure of working with many of them, on and off, since my time as a cadet. The principles that have led the Charleston Citadel Club to its great success were developed in conjunction with the current leadership and the underlying ideas are shared. My efforts as an officer of the CAA will help to bring these talents and skill to good use and to execute on the goals that will be set out.
This is your Association and your School, please help me bring added VALUE.
As the 5-time president of the Charleston Citadel Club, I repeatedly took comments from our membership, created events and programs that would benefit them and executed them. Several examples are:
- The bus trip to the Coastal Carolina football game during one of our recent winning seasons for over 50 people that was a great success and was put together in less than a week.
- Our Monthly Breakfasts and After-Hours events that rotate all over the city bringing the club to the membership as opposed to requiring the membership to come to the club.
- We average 40 events per year that serve thousands of people. We have created and operated a large Veterans Charity fishing tournament that is now a prominent part of the Charleston community and continues to bring credit to The Citadel and raise public awareness about our school’s values.
- The Club has grown from roughly 50 members and a few thousand-dollar budget to nearly 500 members and an over $200,000 annual budget.
- We have been able to raise and donate nearly $100,000 to organizations on The Citadels campus and throughout our Charleston community.
These efforts are real world examples of bringing value to an organization.
I ask you to vote for ADDING VALUE by voting for Joseph (Jay) E. Wallace III for Vice President of the Citadel Alumni Association.

All Alumni,
I fully embrace the solid foundation and the fundamental tenants that created the reputation of our Alma Mater. This reputation is something that we all must guard and work to sustain. I will, as in my past efforts, listen to and discuss your concerns and will work to communicate them to the administration and the CAA.
My primary goal is to bring value to Alumni throughout the worldwide Citadel community by firmly establishing the benefits of the CAA in your lives and in your local area. All strong organizations have a robust, wide and diverse base. Strong clubs, directors and members are the core that integrate the organization into our daily lives and in your local area. The benefits of wearing our Ring are clear to all of us and so must the benefits of alumni involvement also be clear.
As an officer of the CAA, I have a responsibility to work with and help the administration and faculty, The Citadel Foundation, and others to enhance the relationship between the Alumni Association and the school. Finding common ground, building consensus and developing services that benefit all is how value is sustained in institutions.
